Okay, if we were talking about people we would just be going into 2nd grade, but this is talking about how lone Nutri-Sport has been your locally owned and independant training & sports nutrition store!

Bodysculpting December session beginning! 

We have been holding our Bodyscultping sessions for many years now and have had countless clients utilize our program to get some amazing results!  In fact, we boast about an 85% retention rate.  Most of our clients use this as their exclusive training protocol.  Being that it really is more like personal training than group training, we have switched the sessions into various payment formats (depending on your commitment and budget.

1 month: $141
9 weeks: $275
Quarterly: $399
Annually: $1,575 (plus tax on all these options)
For this, you get 4 sessions per week (Mon-Sat) at either 5 or 6 AM, 7 or 8 AM, noon or 7 PM.
  As always, we strive to help you make the most of your training both in and outside of the studio by monitoring your nutrition and watching your progress, this really is more like personal training than large group fitness.  Groups are at most 10 clients per session so you don’t get lost in a crowd.  If you want in, let us know!

 

High School Athletes are transitioning to other sports or the off season, are they ready?

Here’s a couple examples of results from our Bodysculpting program:

Aquamassage
This is an incredible way to get a quick, non-invasive, therapeutic massage.  What looks like a tanning bed is actually a chamber that has 40 high-pressure jets that go from your feet to your neck pulsating heated water.  You don’t get wet though and are fully dressed.  There is a sheath between you and the water, so you just lay there, relax and enjoy!  A great pick-me-up over lunch, after workouts, or as a maintenance in between intense deep tissue work.  Only $1.00 per minute it is a great way to treat yourself (or someone you know).  Swing in and try it out!

Team FPT member Jim Ashley won the overall men’s title at the NANBF Best of the Midwest Physique Championships.  Coming in the best he ever has, Jim defeated some tough competition to earn the title!!

Team FPT member Stephanie Binney competed at the Best of the Midwest Powerlifting Championships and won the overall female deadlift with 340lb pull and best overall female lifter!

Team FPT member Heather Symonds completed her first powerlifting meet and her husband did as well.  Joe Symonds benched 285 and deadlifted 450.

Team FPT member Tyler Russell competed in his first contest at the NANBF Best of the Midwest, which he placed 2nd in his first contest in the novice class, then went on to compete in the Bluffs Classic, where he placed 4th in the USA contest and 2nd in the novice category.

Team FPT member Alissa King spent over a year adding muscle then 4 months dieting down for her first bodybuilding contest.  She earned second place and best female poser awards!

Team FPT member Lanna Thompson dieted down to a ripped physique and earned 4th place.  Her husband Kyle Thompson did the same, only in bodybuilding.

Team FPT member Daphne Christenson successfully competed in her first figure contest and placed third in the open class.

Team FPT member Kayse Dunton stayed the course through a challenging schedule and competed in the beginner and novice figure catagories.

Team FPT member Shawn Schwabe dieted down 31 lbs and hit the bodybuilding stage for the first time in a very competitive light heavy weight class in the NPC Iowa.

Q.  Should I stay away from carbs if I’m trying to lose bodyfat?

A.  Carbohydrates are important and your body’s preferred source of fuel.  They also can greatly impact muscle growth but also impact blood sugar and fat storage.  Key times to have carbs are around your training time.  Get plenty of veggies and try to make sure your carbs are a good source of fiber (brown carbs).

Bodysculpting results and testimonial

They say that pictures say a thousand words, well, one of our recent participants not only has some impressive pictures show her results from the 9-week Bodysculpting program, but also tells a great story!

Deanna just finished up her first 9 week Bodysculpting session at our Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat 6 AM time.  She did amazingly and nailed it on all fronts, attendance, nutrition and workouts.  In 9 weeks, Deanna lost over 15 inches around her waist/hips and lost over 7 inches in her arms/thighs.  Her bodyfat went down 9.7% and she lost over 33 pounds according to the scale!

Below are the before and after pictures, but read her story in her own words below that.

As a mother of 2 children (5 &3 yrs old) I had constantly struggled with my weight and appearance for years.  When I joined Nutri-Sport’s 9 week Bodysculpting challenge I was at a point of desperation. Due to our family’s financial situation I knew I could only afford to take this class once throughout the year and from the get go I decided to make the most of my time there.  I viewed this as an opportunity to invest in myself and my health.
At the start of the program I felt a bit out of place. Most of the people in my class had better conditioning and overall they were in better shape than I was.  As I disciplined myself,  the constant support and drive of the trainers within the program helped me realize just how much I could accomplish.  As my body got better and the results became more apparent I pushed myself harder than I have ever done before,  The staff helped answer any and all questions I could possibly think of asking (and trust me they were a lot!).  Anything from what to eat, when to eat it, what supplements would help me achieve my goals faster, and how to maintain an overall sense of balance within the program. Maintaining discipline in my eating habits was crucial to my results. The trainers also helped me understand how to continue getting results even though I no longer was able to continue the challenge with them.
I won’t lie and say that it was an easy adjustment to make for myself.  Most,  if not all of my habits changed as I accepted the challenge.  Anywhere from my eating habits, my discipline as a person, and even my sleeping habits.  The trainers not only work with you in accomplishing your goals, but they also believe in you which makes them even more amicable and trustworthy.  You do feel challenged by the workouts, you certainly feel challenged by the trainers (whose constant push is necessary, at least on my case), you also feel challenged by the people within your class in a way that it is a healthy competition to give your best every time you are there. But most importantly it is a challenge to yourself.  To know that the more you apply yourself, and the more you discipline yourself the better results you get.  To challenge yourself to change your habits and put yourself to the test and not only know but also see the results of your work and their guidance it is the most rewarding experience I can honestly say I have ever had!

Lipo 6 Hers:

The Lipo-6 line has been extremely popular, with the release of the new Black line and now the Hers formula, obviously specifically geared towards females.  It is a liquid cap for quick absorption, thermogenic, increases metabolism/energy and helps use fat for energy.  We have had great reviews from customers who have tried it.

Brain Formula:
This unique blend of key herbs and vitamins help combat the affects of age-related cognitive decline and help promote circulation and mental clarity for an elevated mood, alertness, energy, improved memory and concentration.

B-Complex Formula
B vitamins are coenzymes involved in energy production.  They can also be helpful in relieving symptoms of depression and anxiety.  This is especially important for those who have a lot of stress and fatigue.  In addition to B-Complex vitamins, this formula has minerals and herbs to further enhance the effects.

2:1 Bars
This new protein bar has to be one of the best we’ve seen!  Not only does it taste great, but it has 2 parts protein to every carb.  That equals out to 32 grms of protein with only 15 grms of carbs, (only 3 of which are sugar!)  Being low in fat at 4.5 grams, it doesn’t rely on that to make up the difference.  Coming in oatmeal or almond caramel crunch.

Training tip: Stretch after, not before
When you are getting ready to exercise, you want to get the body ready for the stress, which means getting the blood into the muscles and getting the cardiovascular system ready.  This is not the time to stretch, as it can actually reduce muscle tension, which can decrease performance or worse yet, increase risk of injury.  Contact one of our certified trainers to help you come back quicker from an injury and not lose progress.

Nutrition tip: Meal spacing
Most people now understand that the body needs frequent meals for continuous energy and to keep the metabolism ramped up.  However, you can eat too often as well, plus the types of foods you eat at these meals can make a significant impact.  Include plenty of fiber throughout the day and control the insulin/blood sugar spikes.  For more information or a customized meal plan/coaching, contact Ryan, a certified sports nutrition specialist to set up an appointment.

Supplement tip: Endurance athletes
As we get into race season deeper, those who do endurance activities should pay attention to their supplements too.  While good old chocolate milk is bare minimum, there are MUCH better ways to optimize recovery and performance.  A good recovery shake with a 1:4 ratio of protein to carbs (2 scoops Xtend to 1 scoop Cytomax is perfect).  Also, electrolytes before/after a run to ensure optimal rehydration.  Cordygen5 improves ATP regeneration and VO2 max.  Of course a meal with the proper amount of carbs and water before the event is crucial too (with proper digestion time).  Quick delivery energy during longer events (45 min+) will keep you fueled throughout (gels, beans or gummys).

Recipe: Tortilla chocolate roll ups
Here is a tasty recipe for breakfast or anytime you want something a little sweet.

Take a scoop of protein (we like chocolate) and mix in about 1 to 1/2 Tbsp of peanut butter.  Add just enough water to make into a paste.  Spread onto a carb sense whole wheat tortilla (12 grams carbs, 8 grams of which are fiber).  Roll the tortilla up and you’re set to go!

Nutri-Sport 9-week Bodysculpting program testimonial

Often we hear that people are in a rut with their current training and want to shake things up or they know of someone (or themselves) who are wanting to get started in a regular workout routine.  Our 9-week Bodysculpting fits that need.

Below is a video of a current client who has been participating in the Bodysculpting workouts.

This is a 9-week course that meets 4 times per week (MWFS), incorporating strength and cardio training, with the goal to build muscle and lose the bodyfat while having fun doing it! We use weights, machines, cables, plyometrics, stabilization and core techniques so you get a TON of variety and results. Nutrition is a key factor and is emphasized throughout the program. While transformation does happen, life-long habits are emphasized with follow up and accountability for what you do outside of the workouts. Time slots are 5AM, 6AM and noon. Workouts last one hour, cost is $275. We limit the class size to 8 people, so space is limited to ensure close attention and comfort.

We have ALOT of different training techniques, with an emphasis in a balanced and effective workout. Strength, cardio, balance, stability, flexibility and endurance are all emphasized.

Next Monday our Bodysculpting program starts another 9-week course.  This program is unlike any out there as it’s a unique combination of weight training, cardio consisting of plyometrics and boot camp style workouts, nutrition (which is essential).  Most importantly, it’s designed to help you learn lifestyle habits to not only make progress, but to keep it going afterwards!

Here’s how it works:  6 days a week, we do a combination of weight training and cardio.  You don’t need to be athletic, plus it’s non-impact so it builds your body verses “bang it up”.  The design is to help stimulate and build muscle tissue, and lose the bodyfat.  While you don’t need to worry about “bulking up” keeping the muscle in place (much like a bodybuilder) is what keeps your metabolism going (which is a big downfall of “yo-yo” diets).  So we jack up your metabolism, not too mention improve the way you feel and look!  People usually continue to trim down even when they go on vacations as their metabolism is running full blast (pretty cool, huh?) Classes are small (no more than 8 per group) so that it’s not over crowded and can be supervised by our trainer (who has a B.S. and numerous certifications) to make sure everyone is doing things right and pushing it to the best of their ability.  It’s like getting personal training at a group price!  We have early morning and evening time slots, let us know ASAP as it’s almost full!  Would love to help you “reach your full potential!”

Fun core exercise

Here’s a fun core exercise that Ryan Irwin is demonstrating in the Full Potential Training studio. Hold a barbell above (like the top of a bench press) and bring your legs down/to the side.

If you are just starting out, you can do the same exercise by just keeping the barbell in the rack and holding on to it. This really works the abs, plus good for the hip flexors and stability in the shoulders.
