Contest prep update -1 week out!!!

October 15, 2009 by Ryan Irwin · Leave a Comment

Hard to believe the NANBF Natural USA is next weekend!! I tested my bodyfat yesterday and came in at 5% and I feel totally ready. I had a little scare today as my intestines started to cramp, but that went away after a few hours, so good to go.

This week I continued to break the traditional rules and have been testing my strength levels. So far at 1 week out I have hit personal records in my deadlifts, squats and hack squats. Tomorrow is bench day and hope to do the same there. Have my training cycle planned out for after the bodybuilding contest to get ready for the powerlifting meet. Have achieved the goal I initially wanted (to maintain strength levels) and have set new ones!

For supplements, I have been very happy with my stack and attribute maintaining my strength and muscle retention to it. Extremely happy with the Bio Heat and the Nitro PM for my fat loss agent, along with sipping on Xtend throughout the day for the BCAAs.

Hard work is done, time to just do what I have to do to finish things out!

Contest prep -2 weeks out

October 8, 2009 by Ryan Irwin · Leave a Comment

Wow, time has flown by! Hard to believe I’ve been dieting since July!! This has been a very smooth contest prep for the NANBF Natural USA in Chicago on Oct 24th. I believe the variety of food choices has really helped a lot on this. Everything is right on track, looking to come in stong!

Speaking of strong, I am simply amazed at how my strength has held. I attribute this to focusing on progression of weights and cycling my training to allow for recovery. I continue to get stronger with my leg exercises as well as the bench press and deadlift. My shoulder and lower back feel awesome and looking to start my training for NASA powerlifting Nationals at 100% right out of the gates.

For supplementation, the 100% liquid egg whites have be awesome to keep me satisfied and is very convenient. In either a shake or cooked as an omelet, they have been great. I am also going to add some night time herbs in before bed as sleeping has been increasingly difficult.

Have been working more on posing and putting together my routine. Looking forward to having fun with it as this will be the first time my kids will see me onstage!

July 14, 2009 by Ryan Irwin · Leave a Comment

On July 27th, the next 9 week Bodysculpting session begins! If you are looking for a way to shake up your workouts or are in a rut (or know someone who need to start working out), this program is it!

The workouts are 4 days per week (MWFS), focusing on weight training (free weights, cables and machines) for muscle/strength gains and cardio/abs (plyometrics/”boot-camp” style drills/equipment) focusing on increasing the metabolism and burning calories.  This workout program is designed in such a way to help people keep/build muscle and lose the bodyfat!!

While people get amazing results, it’s not just a short-term 9-week “transformation” it’s a way to get you in a healthy lifestyle for good!  Proper nutrition and lifestyle habits will be a focus and reinforced as well throughout the course.  It’s not easy, but it works and is fun!  Class size is limited to 8 and starts soon so stop in or call today to get your spot!  Times are 5 AM, 6 AM and noon.  We also have shower facilities to get you ready and off to work!  Cost is $275 for 9 weeks, we only have a few spots open.  Come in and inquire today!

In only 4 weeks on the current session:

Felicia has 5″ on her waist/hips and lost 4.3% bodyfat, with a total fat loss of 11.5lbs, while maintaining her muscle tissue!

Molly lost 4.6″ on her midsection, lost 4% bodyfat and losing 8.5lbs of bodyfat and kept her lean muscle mass!

Jason has gained almost a full inch on his arms and thighs.  He has also dropped 2% bodyfat while increasing his size and strength!

Nutri-Sport & Full Potential Training Tip

Building muscle and losing bodyfat, the perfect combination, right? Most people know that weight training is essential for muscle mass and cardio is critical for bodyfat loss. A common question is, when to do them? In this video, Ryan Irwin explains.

Bodysculpting starts up again next week!

January 14, 2009 by Ryan Irwin · 1 Comment

Next Monday our Bodysculpting program starts another 9-week course.  This program is unlike any out there as it’s a unique combination of weight training, cardio consisting of plyometrics and boot camp style workouts, nutrition (which is essential).  Most importantly, it’s designed to help you learn lifestyle habits to not only make progress, but to keep it going afterwards!

Here’s how it works:  6 days a week, we do a combination of weight training and cardio.  You don’t need to be athletic, plus it’s non-impact so it builds your body verses “bang it up”.  The design is to help stimulate and build muscle tissue, and lose the bodyfat.  While you don’t need to worry about “bulking up” keeping the muscle in place (much like a bodybuilder) is what keeps your metabolism going (which is a big downfall of “yo-yo” diets).  So we jack up your metabolism, not too mention improve the way you feel and look!  People usually continue to trim down even when they go on vacations as their metabolism is running full blast (pretty cool, huh?) Classes are small (no more than 8 per group) so that it’s not over crowded and can be supervised by our trainer (who has a B.S. and numerous certifications) to make sure everyone is doing things right and pushing it to the best of their ability.  It’s like getting personal training at a group price!  We have early morning and evening time slots, let us know ASAP as it’s almost full!  Would love to help you “reach your full potential!”
