The practitioner of yoga in addition to the benefits that physical activity is contributing additional benefits such as mental and emotional stability, balance, etc.
In the West the aesthetic values, the external, is the cult of the body, where what matters are the km that is crossed, repetitions that are made, body mass, etc., is a way to quantify the body.
“Higher, further, faster, stronger.” It is the motto that since antiquity has preceded the Olympics and now this western society.
It’s a very different view of the vision of the East, where the Yoga views the body as an integral part of being human, like the mind, intelligence, spirit. Thus Yoga brings other aspects that current sports we can not contribute. Western physical disciplines always quantified, yoga instead sees the body as a part of being human.
